The Business Excellence Awards dinner is one of the most prestigious events of the business calendar in the East of England. The awards, organized by Business Weekly, the regions premier business newspaper, are well attended and this year more than 200 VIPs including chief executives, government influencers and foreign dignitaries attended the dinner which was held for the first time at Queens’ College, Cambridge. Guests kicked off the evening with drinks in the recently refurbished Old Hall which provided a stunning backdrop. This was followed by a sumptuous dinner prepared by the Queen’s College catering team headed up by Master Chef Hans Schweitzer. Tony Quested, Chief Executive of Business Weekly commented: “Queens' not only said they wanted our business but turned somersaults to prove it. They were co-operative before the event when good planning is essential. They were receptive and flexible on the day when the lighting and staging people needed access - and the performance on the night was quite magnificent and the best we have experienced with a college venue. Our guests were received with genuine warmth and hospitality. The care that went into the look of the room, including the exquisite table settings, gave that instant 'wow' factor when guests walked in. |
The food itself was outstanding and the service was cheery and prompt. Managers kept a discrete distance but were on hand to intervene if they sensed a potential problem. They needn't have worried. The student calendar can impose restrictions on the corporate event organiser but we are glad we persisted.”
